Plants have been ordered

Ground Maintenance has ordered the plants for the area between The Marr and Goldthorpe. This is part of the security projects initiated by the Curnock Street TRA in order to reduce the ASB in the communal areas.

The project started last July 2021 when the Curnock TRA and officers from the council have met on site to discuss the possibilities of reducing ASB on certain areas. After many ideas and suggestions, it was decided that new plants with prickly leaves will discourage non residents from loitering on the communal areas and from hiding illegal items on the bushes.

UPDATE 18-11-2021: The works for removing hardstanding around the trees have been arranged to to be completed on the 22 November 2021.

In addition to the new plants, the gates located between The Marr and Thurnscoe was locked in order to reduce the number of exits used by ASB people. So far, this measure have very encouraging results and we have been told that the Curnock Street TRA intents to take even more measures to improve the situation.

Residents can still access all areas on the estate by using the path in front of Thurnscoe.
