Heating Works & Noise (June 2011) – UPDATED 06-06-2011

Boiler NoiseThis is the sixth part of the story concerning the noise nuisance. The problem started on the 20th October 2010 and since then many things have changed.

On 01-06-2011 at 11:56, a resident sent us the following e-mail:

I am writing to inform you of a loud noise which appears to be coming from the radiators/pipes of our maisonette (Goldthorpe). It has happened on 3 occasions: 10/05, 30/05 and 31/05 between 3 and 6am.

It sounds a bit like drilling and you can also hear the water sloshing through the radiator. The sound comes and goes lasting from a couple of minutes to about 20 minutes.

The radiators in our house are not switched on.

We are concerned as we do not know what is causing this noise and whether it has been reported before and if any actions are being taken to prevent it.

On 01-06-2011 at 12:22, we sent the following e-mail to Mr Richard Michael:

Dear Mr Michael,

I have received the following attached e-mail form a resident in Goldthorpe. Could you please investigate and let us know the cause of the problem?

I thought that this problem had been fixed. Please advise.

On 01-06-2011 at 12:23, we received the following e-mail from Mr Richard Michael:

I am out of the office and will return on 06/06/11. Please call 02079742046 for any emergencies.

On 06-06-2011 at 10:32, we received the following e-mail from Mr Richard Michael:

Dear Resident,

Mr Bowcutt attended the property last week and has advised the resident of the correct procedure for dealing with any faults on the heating system.

The resident has been given the Camden Housing Repairs contact details to report the fault if they feel there is a problem.

This will ensure that any faults are logged and the correct procedures are followed.

The student he spoke to in the property was not aware of a noise issue but one of the other students said that they had heard a noise.

When residents report faults they are given a Work Order number for which they can enquire for updates if required.

On 06-06-2011 at 11:04, we sent the following e-mail to Mr Richard Michael:

Dear Mr Michael,

What was the cause of that radiators’ noise since the heating is off?

Has the radiators’ noise fixed on that flat in Goldthorpe and generally on the estate?

Please have in mind that the radiators’ noise was experienced by many residents on the whole estate including myself.
