Dear Cllr Robinson

Please find below and update on the vermin issue on the Curnock estate and measures we are or will be taking to tackle this problem.

1 We will be consulting with residents shortly proposing a pilot scheme to lock/close down one of the bins rooms on Goldthorpe and place euro bins outside. The current situation with bin rooms with black bags are easily accessible to vermin and provide them with an excellent food source.

2 The food recycling bins will be removed this week as an interim measure until the pest problem is resolved. Unfortunately at the moment the bins attract fly tipping, which in turn proves attractive to rats/mice etc.

3 Veolia will pay particular attention to the removal of tree fruit droppings on the estate..

4 Egress/ingress holes leading from the underground garages have now been sealed.

5 Pest control continue to bait on the estate.

7 Sturdy plastic rubbish bins will be put in bin rooms instead of bags to minimise food resource for rodents. Some bins placed ,more bins on order.

8 Garage area cleared of all rubbish and checks on unused garages to be carried out regularly.

9 Regular monitoring by caretakers especially after bin collections to ensure that any spillages are immediately removed.

10 Further checks to be undertaken on drainage system.

11 Letters to be sent residents to remind them of the best practice in terms of refuse disposal, bin collection days etc.

If you do require more information please do not hesitate to contact me.
