IMPORTANT INFORMATION – APPROVAL OF BAYHAM STREET / PLENDER STREET JUNCTION SCHEME

Dear Sir/Madam,

BAYHAM ST / PLENDER ST JUNCTION – NEW ZEBRA CROSSINGS

Following the recent public consultation on the above scheme, We are writing to inform you that in January 2013, the Cabinet Member for Sustainability, Planning and Transport approved the following proposals for the Bayham St / Plender St raised zebra crossings junction scheme. The full results for the consultation are included at the end of this letter. These include :

1) The widening of the footway on Bayham Street at the junction with Plender Street (north east corner)
2) The introduction of two new raised zebra crossings on Plender Street.
3) Raising of the Bayham St /Plender St junction.
4) The relocation of trader parking bays from Plender Street to Bayham Street.
For your information officers did not recommend the cycle hire docking station to be implemented.

The Council’s contractors, FM Conway, will be commencing with the construction of the above proposals on 24 March 2014, with all measures expected to be completed by the end of March 2014 as indicated on your recent works notification letter ref CW/PH/Bayham St/01 dated 5 March 2014. During this period the section of Bayham Street between Plender Street and Crowndale Road will be resurfaced.

The Contractor will endeavour to keep to the programme, weather permitting, but your cooperation is essential in keeping the areas of the works clear of parked vehicles at all times and to adhere to the temporary traffic and pedestrian arrangements provided by the Contractor, as well as any parking suspensions that may be put into place.

I would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may occur as a result of the works, and assure you that every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum. If you experience any problems or require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Peter Hadley (for queries regarding the works), or Alexis Bielich (for queries regarding the design), on the above telephone numbers.

Yours faithfully,

Simi Shah
