Have You Witnessed Fly Tipping?

Dear Residents,

For many years, our estate has been used by street properties and businesses as a dump yard for their rubbish. They have consistently and repeatedly used our bins instead of disposing of their rubbish properly in front of their property at specific times and dates.

As per our previous article (see list of them on the right), the situation is now intolerable since some of the fly tippers have started abusing our residents inside our estate. Residents have come forward to us reporting verbal abuse and intimidation from certain addresses.

In the last years, the Council has received many emails and evidence, but very few or ineffective actions have been taken.

We have escalated this matter now, and we would appreciate your help.

Read about fly-tipping on Camden Council’ website: Camden Council News or here: camdens policy for flytipping

  • Camden Council is committed to improving the local environment through a variety of action plans and campaigns to support the Camden 2025 challenge of creating clean, vibrant and sustainable places. Enforcement is through Fixed Penalty Notices – on-the-spot fines of £1,000 for fly-tipping (reduced to £500 if paid within 10 days), and £120 for litter dropping (reduced to £100 if paid within 10 days), including cigarette butts and dropped food and drinks packaging.
Councillor Pat Callaghan, Cabinet Member for Safer Communities

We have enhanced our environmental enforcement – including launching a new community safety enforcement team and increasing fines for offenders to stamp out such behaviour. Fly tipping and littering are illegal – if you do it, you could be fined.

Your waste is your responsibility and if you don’t dispose of it properly you could face £120 fine for littering and a £1,000 fine for fly-tipping.

We also regularly check if businesses have a proper contract in place for their waste collections. When they don’t, they often simply dump their rubbish in black bags, blighting their own neighbourhood.

  1. I have witnessed many businesses as well as street properties dumping rubbish inside our estate. I have also requested for the council to take action and I will send you more evidence.

  2. Yesterday the residents of 43A Pratt Street, London NW1 dumped lots of rubbish in the bins located in front of Billingley.
