There are a lot of communal and building lights that are currently not working on the whole estate. Also there are many broken glass panels. We have reported all the lighting issues to the Repairs Team under REF: 1576135/1 but nothing happened. We sent another email recently including all the other issues as well. Subject: Curnock Estate in darkness and broken doors
Dear Mr Ahmed,
For the last few weeks a big part of the estate is in complete darkness due to problems with the communal lights. I have reported the problem to the repairs team ( REF: 1576135/1 – see attached email and file) but nothing has happened.
In the meantime there are more issues with lights and broken glass panels:
1) The building light on the Warmsworth next to the Pratt Street gate.
2) The ceiling light between flats 4 and 7 Goldthorpe
3) The ceiling light outside flat 2 Ravenscar
4) The glass panels on the communal stairs of the Billingley building.
5) The glass panel of the main entrance door to the Darfield building
6) Building light outside flat 1 Connisborough
7) All lights on Goldthorpe facing the Marr
The exact location of the problems has been marked on the attached map.
I would appreciate if you take some action to rectify those problems since those issues are creating more problems such as antisocial behaviour and drug dealing.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Yours sincerely,
CSE Group

Dear Right First Time,
Please can you confirm when the job (REF: 1576135/1) will take place? I have highlighted the areas in red for your information.
1) The building light on the Warmsworth next to the Pratt Street gate – The caretaker (Lloyd Ward) stated that this may be something to do with the timer system underneath Mexborough, as he had noticed all lights were working last week. The caretaker (Lloyd Ward) does not know how to operate the system.
2) The ceiling light between flats 4 and 7 Goldthorpe – The caretaker (Lloyd Ward) stated that this may be something to do with the timer system underneath Mexborough, as he had noticed all lights were working last week. The caretaker (Lloyd Ward) does not know how to operate the system.
3) The ceiling light outside flat 2 Ravenscar – The caretaker (Peter Philips) to repair
4) The glass panels on the communal stairs of the Billingley building – The caretaker (Lloyd Ward) stated that this may be something to do with the timer system underneath Mexborough, as he had noticed all lights were working last week. The caretaker (Lloyd Ward) does not know how to operate the system.
5) The glass panel of the main entrance door to the Darfield building – The caretaker (Lloyd Ward) stated that this may be something to do with the timer system underneath Mexborough, as he had noticed all lights were working last week. The caretaker (Lloyd Ward) does not know how to operate the system.
6) Building light outside flat 1 Connisborough – The caretaker (Peter Philips) stated he would report this to repairs but I have explained the repair team are already aware.
7) All lights on Goldthorpe facing the Marr – The caretaker (Peter Philips) stated that the light not working may be something to do with contractors working on the boiler system and will speak to the site supervisor.

Dear Mr Valdez
Please keep me updated as I want all the lights up and working – it sees from the email below that it is all vague- no one knows how to operate the systems and so please can these ALL be fixed with urgency.
Please advise ,
With the autumn darkness in the late afternoon coming these lights are vital for security.

Dear Mr Valdez,
Please see my comments below regarding the different issues:
1) Nothing to do with the timer since the rest of the lights on that building are working fine.
2) Same as above. Also it is very upsetting when someone provides such an unprofessional response. The light between those flats is flashing and needs to be replaced. Out of the 19 lights on that communal balcony one does not work. Does every single light have a timer?
3) Thanks
4&6) I would love to hear the technical explanation of how the lights timer interacts and communicates with the broken glass panels. Does the timer break the glass with a kind of extraterrestrial powers? If someone fixes the timer will the glass panel repair itself?
You will have to excuse my sarcastic tone but the caretaker did not even bothered to read or check the problem with the glass panels. He might thought that wasting our time would be OK. On the positive side the response made us laugh a lot.
8) What about the the main door light above the main entrance of the Goldthorpe building situated between flats 30 and 31?
I would recommend the council to provide the email addresses for the caretakers and the repairs team so we can send pictures and extra information in any future requests so there is no confusion.
Looking forward to hear from you.

Dear Councillor Robinson,
Thank you for your email.
I have raised a job for all the lights to be remedied under works order 1580713/1.
Resident,
Please can I have some more information with regards to point 4. Is this a broken glass panel to a communal landing door?

Dear Mr Pacheco,
Please check the attached photo taken from Google Street view.
I marked with a red X the glass panel that is broken on the communal stairs of the Billingley building and I marked with a red rectangular the glass panel that is broken on the entrance door of the Darfield building.
I hope it helps. If I have the time I will try to take better pictures when I go home.

Dear Resident,
Thank you for our recent walkabout on Curnock Estate where we looked at the issues you raised in your emails below, as well as the additional lights that were not working around the estate.
As discussed, please accept my apologies for my response to points 4 and 5, which was an error on my part. Peter Bruce, the Camden Town Team Repairs Supervisor has confirmed that our contractors will repair these glass panels (points 4 and 5) by 8 November 2013.
I can confirm that points 2, 3, 7 and 8 were rectified and I will help to ensure that points 1 and 6 are rectified as soon as possible.
I have highlighted in green the additional locations (issues) that we visited during our walkabout and that were since rectified, as well as highlighting in red those locations (issues) that are still outstanding (please see the attached for further information). Again, I will help to ensure that all outstanding issues are rectified as soon as possible.
Julian Duke, the Electrical Contract Manager in the Repairs and Improvements Team is now aware of the outstanding issues and has confirmed that we use the following lighting operating systems on Curnock Estate.
24/7 system
Timer system
Photocell system (light sensor)
In future, please feel free to send photos and additional information to rightfirsttime@camden.gov.uk (repairs team). Unfortunately, caretakers do not have email capability at this time. Instead, please feel free to send photos and additional information to me at fraser.valdez@camden.gov.uk and I can then liaise with the caretakers where necessary.
I hope the above is useful.
