Lack of Duty of Care

UPDATE 04th September 2019

The same appalling situation is continuing today with the council doing the one thing they do best. Inadequate job or simply nothing.

Those mattresses on the photo on the left are here for 5 days! How long will it take before they remove them? How long do we have to deal with drug users and homeless people who are using the mattresses and container as temporary accommodation?

Even after Veolia’s visit today the situation is bad. They took some of the rubbish and they left some behind. Why?

ORIGINAL STORY

Camden Council shown lack of duty of care for the last few months regarding the rubbish around the estate and the state of cleaning provided. Many areas are used as toilets which the council do not clean properly and many areas are full of rubbish which are not removed for months. This creates a very unhealthy and unsafe environment for the residents who are already pay a fortune for the services via their service charges, council taxes and rent.

The police have sent us a letter stating the following:

Dear Resident,

Thank you for your email,

Officers have been patrolling the location and have also discovered that there are lots of areas that have fly tipping and rubbish left in corners which gives of the broken window syndrome.  This means that due to a lot of a rubbish and messy areas on the Estate it is causing a lot of ASB and drug related offences. Natasha please could you ask someone from the Council to have a look around the Estate in the green areas of the playing fields where the climbing frames are and the other smaller parks as what is happening is the users are finding little corners with quilts and old tyres etc. to sit on and are quite comfortable.  This also attracts rough sleepers which will also increase in drug use, so to clean up the location would be good and also maybe signs up saying “No Fly tipping” etc.

…………………………..

Kind regards,

  1. Residents need to be issued with letters from the council regarding neat and tidy disposable
Of their rubbish. Also the phone number to call regarding white goods which get collected FREE from recycling company from their home.
Also I myself have witnessed on numerous occasions drug addicts/ Romanian gypsies pull household rubbish from the green bins and open the bags on the floor leaving it all strewn on the estate, the wind blows it everywhere. You must be very careful when putting you letters in your bin as they are obviously looking for personal information. USE A SHREDDER.
We need really good caretakers who inform the council regarding the goings on, on our state which hopefully can put a stop rubbish disposal.

    • PLEASE CAMDEN COUNCIL STOP GIVING US WARNING LETTERS REGARDING FIRE SAFETY OUTSIDE OUR HOMES WITH REGARDS TO OUR PLANTS WHICH MAKE OUR ESTATE LOOK BEAUTIFUL. THESE BEAUTIFUL PLANTS WILL NOT STOP THE FIRE BRIGADE DOING THEIR JOB. UNLIKE THE SECURE GRILLE GATES ON TENANTS DOORS WILL ?

      • Camden Council has sent many letters regarding the flowers outside the flats but they have taken no action to enforce it. A lot of box ticking to show that they are complying with the regulations but in reality they do not care. If they did then they would comply with the Health and Safety regulations and they would collect the rubbish frequently and promptly.

  2. Camden Council has paid more attention to unimportant issues on the estate (i.e. plants outside residents’ flats) and has consistently and systematically ignored the true problems on the estate. At the moment as per the police letter the estate is full of rubbish which council does not remove. Is that incompetence or a deliberate attempt to downgrade our estate?

Leaseholders as well as council tenants pay a lot of money for the cleaning of the estate and the only thing we get is rubbish everywhere, unlocked and insecure containers that are used by drug dealers and users.

When will the council do its job and deliver the services they got paid for?
